Geneva Wilson

November 21, 1950 ~ June 13, 2022

On November 21, 1950, the world was blessed with the birth of Geneva Wilson, born in Lake Charles, LA to the late O.D. Wilson, Sr., and Dorothy Carter Wilson. On June 13, 2022, an angel gently ushered her into the presence of the Lord. At a very early age, she professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized by Reverend Horace Allison at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA.

After graduating from Washington High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. She later attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA earning a Master's in Environmental Science. Having a desire to know more of the Word of God, Geneva enrolled in the Rhema Bible Training College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma earning a degree in Theology. She was also an active member of the Southern University Alumni Federation, Lake Charles Chapter. Geneva was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She loved reading, traveling, enjoying good food and most of all family gatherings.

Geneva began her career with PPG Industries in Westlake, LA and also worked at Dupont in Orange, TX. She later taught in the Calcasieu Parish School Board System and was also employed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Geneva was preceded in death by her father, O.D. Wilson, Sr.; brother, Herman; paternal grandparents, Fred, and Willie Bea Wilson; maternal grandparents, Norris, and Mary Carter; nephew, Love Martin, Jr.; great niece, Danielle LeViege; and several aunts and uncles.

Her memories will live on in the hearts of her mother, Dorothy C. Malbroux of Lake Charles, LA; three sisters, Betty White of Madison, TN, Sandra (Maurice) Jones of Lake Charles, LA, and Jacqueline (Clifton) Guillory of Arlington, TX; one brother, O.D. Wilson, Jr., of Lake Charles, LA; many beloved godchildren, nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
